Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa is a vegetable dish made with Calabaza squash and string beans that is cooked in coconut milk or coconut cream. Various types of seafood — sometimes meat is incorporated to add flavor to this dish. Ginataang Alimasag recipe is always a tasty treat no matter when it is served. Usually, though, it makes its appearance as a viand in Filipinos’ tables.
Ginataang Gulay with Crab ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1 cup coconut milk
2 medium-sized blue crabs (alimasag), washed, cut in half
1/4 cup kalabasa (squash), peeled, cubed
1/4 cup okra, halved
2 pieces green finger chilies (siling pangsigang)
1/4 cup sitaw (string beans), cut into 3-inch lengths
Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
How to Cook Ginataang Gulay with Crab
First, heat cooking oil in a large pan. Add then saute onions and garlic until onion are clear. add coconut milk and bring to a boil. Cook for 6 minutes. Add the crabs and cook for 5 minutes. Add the squash and okra. Simmer until vegetables are tender. (You may also add the green finger chili at this point.) Add the string beans. And season with salt and pepper.
